Hardik Pandya managed just 7 runs in the last two overs in the balls he faced.
India and South Africa clashed in the second T20I of the 4-match series on November 10, 2024. The match is being played at St George's Park, Gqeberha and India leads the series 1-0.
Aiden Markram, South Africa captain, won the toss and chose to bowl in overcast conditions and on a pitch with grass on it.
India didn’t have a good start to their innings as Sanju Samson fell for a duck, while Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav fell in quick succession for 4 runs each. Tilak Varma (20) and Axar Patel (27) steadied the ship a bit, but both were dismissed as well.
Hardik Pandya was left with the tail as Rinku Singh fell for 9 runs as well, and though Arshdeep Singh showed promise with the bat, Pandya farmed the strike and made 39* in 45 balls with 4 fours and 1 six, while Arshdeep made 6*, as India finished with 124/6 in 20 overs.
One of the most viral moments came in the 19th over when after getting a strike of the second ball, Hardik Pandya was caught on stump mic asking Arshdeep Singh to “Enjoy now, from the other end.”
However, Pandya failed to take advantage of the last two overs as he managed just 7 runs in the 10 balls he faced after that comment.
This led to the Indian all-rounder being trolled on social media by fans, who slammed Pandya for his over-confidence and over-smartness.
