Samson took the Proteas bowling attack to the cleaners in the T20I series opener.
Opening the innings, Samson launched a brutal assault on the Proteas bowlers right from the outset. The right-hander reached his half-century off 27 balls and took another 20 deliveries to notch up his three-figure mark.
It was Samson’s second consecutive hundred in the shortest format after he slammed 111 off 47 balls in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad last month.
This time around, the wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for 107 off 50 balls, including seven boundaries and 10 sixes. Nqabayomzi Peter got rid of him in the 16th over of the Indian innings.
Besides Samson, the likes of Tilak Varma (33 off 18) and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (21 off 17) chipped in with handy contributions as the visitors racked up a mammoth 202/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Cricket fraternity was left astounded by Sanju Samson’s exhilarating batting display in the series opener and showered rich praise on him.
