India pacer Mohammed Siraj breathed fire on day one of the second and final Test against South Africa. This match is being at Newlands in Cape Town on January 3, 2024.

South Africa is captained by Dean Elgar, who is playing his final Test of the career and he did well to win the toss and chose to bowl first. India made two changes as Shardul Thakur made way for Mukesh Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja replaced R Ashwin in the XI.

South Africa had a debutant in Tristan Stubbs, while Lungi Ngidi came in for Gerald Coetzee.

While South Africa's batting was at its peak in the first Test in Centurion, in this match, Mohammed Siraj proved to be a thorn in their progress.

He started by having Aiden Markram caught in slips by Yashasvi Jaiswal for 5 runs. It was a brilliant delivery that got the talented opener to force and play a defensive shot, which led to the edge carrying to the third slip.

Siraj’s next victim was captain Dean Elgar, who had scored 185 in the first test. This time, Elgar was given width outside off-stump after he struggled for some space to play shots on the off side. Elgar tried to play a horizontal bat shot but only succeeded in edging the ball onto his off-stump.

Tony de Zorzi looked in good touch in the first Test, but this time, Siraj got him out caught on the leg side. KL Rahul took a good catch which was judged to perfection.

Siraj then completed a well-deserved five-wicket haul as he dismissed David Bedingham and Marco Jansen in the same over. Bedingham looked good for his short stay but received a delivery that bounced too much and took the shoulder of his bat and was caught in slips.

Then Marco Jansen was out-caught by KL Rahul off a regular outside edge.
