Jansen and Elgar (185) added 111 runs for sixth wicket.
The Indian bowling unit looked lackluster on a pitch that had dried out considerably due to sunlight on day three and Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur provided a bit of free runs to Elgar and Jansen.
Elgar finally fell for 185 runs, but Jansen continued as South Africa’s lead swelled to over 250 runs. The Indian fielding unit also didn’t help their bowlers much as catches were dropped, with Shubman Gill dropping a sitter off Ashwin’s bowling.
Meanwhile, a controversial moment happened when R Ashwin warned Marco Jansen of leaving his crease early at the bowling end.
The incident happened in the 98th over of the South African innings, and Ashwin spotted had an opportunity to affect that run-out, but he backed out, hinting it as a warning to the lanky all-rounder.
