The ongoing second day of the first Test between India and South Africa in Centurion saw a brilliant century being scored by India’s KL Rahul which helped India post 245 runs in their first innings. Just as a reminder, the visitors were 121/6 at one stage on day one.

But Rahul’s amazing resilience and small partnerships with lower order helped India put up a decent total on the board.

Then Mohammed Siraj landed the first strike as he got Aiden Markram caught behind for 5 runs. But then Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi (28) added 93 runs together for the second wicket and gave Indian bowlers a tough time.

A strange yet humorous episode was caught by the cameras amid this difficult scenario. India’s Virat Kohli was spotted approaching the stumps and jokingly switching the locations of the bails when the ends were changed.

Stuart Broad popularised the bail-changing method of dismissal during the Ashes 2023.

And Kohli’s bail switch seemed to work as Jasprit Bumrah took two quick wickets. First, he had Tony de Zorzi caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal for 28 runs and then an over later, had Keegan Petersen chopping onto his stumps for 2 runs.

Fans quickly turned to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to discuss Kohli's seemingly magical act of swapping the bails.
