Former bowler Sreesanth has named Virat Kohli as the person to watch out for in the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. The Proteas have never lost a Test series against India at home.

India came close the last time they toured in 2022, but lost the series after defeats in the last two matches despite taking an early lead.

This led to Virat Kohli quitting as India's Test captain at the end of the series. He had already quit as T20I captain the previous year and was sacked as ODI captain simultaneously.

Meanwhile, batter Virat Kohli has an excellent numbers in Tests in South Africa. He has 719 runs in 7 matches with a best of 153 and an average of 51.35. He has scored 2 centuries and 3 fifties in South Africa.

Sreesanth stated that Kohli enjoys proving himself and plays with pride, which is why he chose him to succeed in the Test series against South Africa. He also selected batter-wicketkeeper KL Rahul to do well.

Virat Kohli. Virat loves to keep proving, himself rather than to anybody but to himself. I think he’s that cricketer who plays with that pride and he takes that pride in a very good way, not in an egoistic way. So pride for me, and for Virat also I’m sure it’s like personal responsibility in delivering excellence. So, I will go with Virat and KL Rahul,” Sreesanth told Firstpost.

Meanwhile, the former pacer also feels this is India’s best chance to beat South Africa in the Test series.

I think this is the best opportunity. Since the time South Africa came back into the international scene, this time we do have a great opportunity and a great chance to win a series there which is like a dream come true,” he said.

Sreesanth even suggested that winning the series against South Africa would be equivalent to winning the World Cup.

“I would love to see India winning the Test series. It will be like winning the World Cup because winning against South Africa in South Africa is not going to be easy but as the ad says, ‘Mazaa ayeega’,” said Sreesanth.
