SA v IND 2023-24: BCCI announces India A squads for South Africa A four-day matches; KS Bharat named captain

India A will play two four-day matches against South Africa A and an inter-squad match.

The BCCI Men’s Selection Committee, on November 30, 2023, named the India A squads for the four-day matches on the South Africa A tour which will happen next month. BCCI also named an India Inter-squad for a three-day game.

The two India A v South Africa A matches will be played on December 11-14 and December 26-29.

KS Bharat will captain the India A squad against South Africa A, which consists of some regulars and some new faces. Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Pradosh Ranjan Paul, and Sarfaraz Khan are some of the names for the first India A v South A match. 

On the other hand, Shardul Thakur, Pulkit Narang, Sourabh Kumar, Manav Suthar, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Vidwath Kaverappa, and Tushar Deshpande will form the bowling contingent.

The second India A match will have some changes with the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Navdeep Saini replacing some of the players.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named in both the squads, but his availability is subject to fitness.

BCCI also named an inter-squad three-day match with most of the Indian Test stars and members of the 1^st India A contingent playing a game amongst themselves. The inter-squad match will be played on December 20-22. This will be a chance to prep for the main India squad for the two-Test series which begins on December 26. 

India A squad for the 1st four-day match:

Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran*, Devdutt Padikkal, Pradosh Ranjan Paul, Sarfaraz Khan, KS Bharat (C-WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Shardul Thakur, Pulkit Narang, Sourabh Kumar, Manav Suthar, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Vidwath Kaverappa, Tushar Deshpande.  

India Inter-squad for the three-day match: 

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran*, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Pradosh Ranjan Paul, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pulkit Narang, Harshit Rana, Shardul Thakur, Sourabh Kumar, Manav Suthar, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Vidwath Kaverappa, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Mohd. Shami, Navdeep Saini.
