Dale Steyn is South Africa's best ever bowler, feels Faf du Plessis.
South African skipper Faf du Plessis is excited with the fact that their pace superhead Dale Steyn has returned to his best with the ball and ready to lead the Proteas bowling attack against Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test of the three-match series, starting from December 26 in Centurion.
In the Test series opener, Steyn is expected to become the leading South African wicket-taker in Test history, as he just one wicket away from overtaking Shaun Pollock's record. Plessis said it will be pleasing for the pacer to achieve that milestone in front of his family and friends.
The 35-year-old is expected to lead the Proteas bowling attack alongside Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier at Centurion on Boxing Day Test, and Du Plessis is excited to see the Phalaborwa Express' bowling at his full swing against the Men in Green in the longest format of the game at home.
During South Africa’s recent Sri Lanka tour, Steyn took just two wickets in the Test series, but Captain Plessis feels it will be great to break the record in front of his home crowd.
On Sunday (December 230, Du Plessis told Netwerk24, “I think he is South Africa's best ever bowler. If he broke the record in Sri Lanka there would have been nobody to celebrate with him. This way, in South Africa, he will be in front of all of his family and friends.”
Du Plessis signed off by saying that Steyn might hang up his boots in white ball cricket after the 2019 World Cup, but said he still has a lot to offer in the Test cricket.
