The five-match ODI series is slated to get underway on November 4 in Auckland.
New Zealand batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the first ODI against India after suffering a concussion during a training session at Eden Park on Tuesday (November 2).
Conway collided with teammate Matt Henry when the two players were attempting to take a catch. Both underwent immediate head injury assessments on-site. Conway was subsequently taken to the hospital, where his concussion was officially confirmed.
Henry's condition is currently being monitored by medical staff, but he has not been ruled out yet.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) stated that both players will continue to be monitored, and further updates regarding their availability for the remainder of the ODI series against India will be provided in due course.
"Both players will continue to be monitored and their involvement in the ODI series against India will be updated in due course," NZC said in a statement.
Henry himself is returning from injury. The fast bowler sustained a low-grade tear in his right quadriceps during the second T20I in Christchurch, sidelining him for the final three matches of the series.
New Zealand's squad is severely depleted ahead of the five-ODI series against India. Along with Conway's concussion, Mark Chapman (hamstring injury) and Rachin Ravindra (shoulder injury) have also been ruled out.
