Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna's participation in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand is looking highly uncertain, Cricbuzz reported on Wednesday (October 28).

The lanky quick was conditionally selected for three of the five matches in the series, slated to begin on November 4 in Auckland, but he has not yet obtained fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence (CoE).

According to the report, Prasidh is scheduled to undergo match simulations on November 1 and 2, which puts his availability for the ODI series opener in serious jeopardy.

The second and third ODIs are due to take place on November 7 and November 10 in Wellington and Hamilton respectively, but whether the team management and selectors will risk fielding him in either of those games remains uncertain and is also subject to receiving clearance from the CoE.

Prasidh Krishna has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies on September 30. He has been recovering at the Bengaluru-based facility and completed a match simulation on October 22. However, further tests planned for November 1 and 2 suggest that the earlier assessment did not produce the desired results to get clearance.

As per the report, Prasidh has minor apprehension despite making satisfactory clinical progress during his rehabilitation at the BCCI CoE.

"Gradual Workload Increase: Skill-specific loading will be increased progressively, with continued clinical monitoring," the CoE report, as quoted by Cricbuzz, stated.

The immediate priority is to ensure he achieves his optimal bowling workload to be completely fit for the subsequent Test series against New Zealand.

There is no condition against Prasidh Krishna's name in the Test squad, which indicates that the team management expects him to be fit for the longest format. The first Test is scheduled to get underway on November 19 in Wellington, with Christchurch is set to host the second Test from November 27.

If cleared on time, the right-arm fast bowler may feature in the third unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A from November 6 to 9.
