NZ v IND 2020: WATCH - Mayank Agarwal undergoes unique batting drills ahead of first Test

Mayank Agarwal's form has not been good in New Zealand so far.

Mayank Agarwal was seen practicing with a unique drill ahead of the first Test against New Zealand.

The Indian team is currently playing a three-day practice match against New Zealand XI to have some red-ball match practice before the two Tests against New Zealand starting next week. While Agarwal could manage only 1 run in the first innings of the game, he looked in good form in the second innings.

Mayank Agarwal reveals how Kohli's pep talk motivated him to hit maiden double Test ton

However, what put the fans in a frenzy was a video by ESPNCricInfo on Instagram that showed the Indian opener taking unique throwdowns. The video showed Indian team staff member ‘Raghu’ bowl him underarm balls that rolled down to Agarwal and he was playing straight bat shots to those.

ESPNCricInfo captioned the video, “Is Mayank expecting the ball to keep low? What's he trying to work on here? #NZvIND

He is either (surprisingly) expecting the balls to keep low on pitches that provide extra bounce or he was just practicing his straight bat shots and trying to keep the ball on the ground rather than playing it in the air.
