Virat Kohli might be the best batsman in the world across three formats, but his struggle against leg-spin has caught everyone’s attention in recent times.

On Wednesday (February 5), the Indian captain once again got bamboozled by leg-spin in the first ODI against New Zealand at Hamilton. He failed to pick Ish Sodhi’s googly and was dismissed for 51.

Last month, Australia leggie Adam Zampa became the most successful bowler against Kohli in ODI cricket after dismissing the India skipper 7 times.

"We basically just found that Virat finds leg-spinners hard to line up early in his innings," Zampa had pointed out.

As far as Virat’s ODI career is concerned – he has been dismissed by leg-spinners 17 out of 185 times. Moreover, 3 of his last 4 dismissals in the 50-over format have come against leg-spinners.

In 2018, Kohli struggled against leg-spinner Adil Rashid throughout the England tour. Also, he was found wanting against Shreyas Gopal, the Rajasthan Royals leggie, during the IPL 2019.

Since 2018, spinners have got the better of Virat on more than 10 occasions in IPL, the most dismissals to spin for any player in this period.

For now, it appears that handling leg-spinners have been a cause of concern for Virat Kohli and all other teams whether in international cricket or IPL have certainly taken a note on the chink in his armour.
