Mohammed Siraj registered his career-best figures of 4/17 in the third and final T20I.
Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj revealed his success mantra after he registered his career-best figures against New Zealand in the third and final T20I in Napier on Tuesday (November 22).
Siraj wreaked havoc in New Zealand’s batting lineup by dismissing Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, and Mitchell Santner to record his career-best figure of 4/17 in the T20Is on Tuesday.
Notably, Team India won the T20I series with a 1-0 margin against the Black Caps after the third and final match ended in a tie via the DLS method at McLean Park in Napier.
After winning the Player of the Match award, the India pacer revealed that he worked on hard length deliveries while serving as a standby bowler for India in the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022. He said bowling during practice in Australia helped him succeed in New Zealand.
Mohammed Siraj said in a video uploaded on BCCI’s official website: “I am feeling great; as a fast bowler, it gave me immense confidence because I was preparing myself for a long time. During the World Cup, when I was a stand-by player, I focussed more on bowling hard lengths.”
He added, “It wasn’t easy bowling those lengths here, but I tried to keep my plans simple. Representing India is a different feeling altogether. I mostly try to not give away a lot of runs and not let batters hit me for boundaries and nothing much.”
Notably, India will now face New Zealand in a three-match ODI series, starting on November 25 at Eden Park, Auckland.
