Joe Root hasn't scored a century in Australia in Tests.
When England tours Australia later this year for the Ashes, Hayden, who was speaking on the All Over Bar The Cricket YouTube channel, said he was certain Root would eventually end his wait for a Test century.
He then exclaimed that if Joe Root fails to make a hundred down under, he’d walk around the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), naked.
“I will walk nude around the MCG if he doesn't make a hundred this summer,” the 52-year-old said, drawing laughter from fellow panelists.
Many were shocked by Hayden's signature humor as the claim swiftly went viral. His daughter, sports broadcaster Grace Hayden, added to the humor by attempting to appeal to the England batter on the show's Instagram page.
In order to prevent her father from going around the MCG nude, she pleaded with Joe Root to make a hundred in the upcoming Ashes.
“Please, Joe Root, make a hundred,” she commented.
