Brevis made 225 runs in six matches for CSK in IPL 2025, with two fifties.
Brevis was a mid-season inclusion in the CSK squad in IPL 2025, as he came in as a replacement for the injured pacer Gurjapneet Singh. CSK was struggling in the tournament and eventually finished at the bottom of the points table, but Brevis hammered two fifties and scored over 200 runs in six games.
This bodes well for the CSK franchise, which is building towards the future ahead of the IPL 2026.
Brevis talked to the Yellow Army about his experiences during his time with CSK. The teenage player recounted his "incredible" IPL experience in an interview with AB de Villiers on YouTube. Brevis also discussed his friendship with MS Dhoni, emphasizing the great batsman-wicketkeeper's humility.
“I’ll always remember, like, whenever I tell people it’s amazing. I had amazing times, my four years [in IPL]. It was incredible.
And I had to go through all of the journey like it’s been beautiful, and the one thing that I can just say from MS [Dhoni] is his humbleness and who he is as a person that stood out for me. How he is basically off the field, the time he has for players, for people," Brevis told De Villiers on his YouTube channel.
Speaking about his time spent with the former CSK captain in IPL 2025, Brevis said Dhoni’s ‘room door’ is always open.
“His room door is always open. If he’s sleeping, that’s the only time it’s closed. And I found myself a few times in his room just sitting there with whatever he’s busy with, like chatting to him about his hobbies, watching cricket, and yeah, that’s just amazing, and just to see what he does like off the field—and like, everyone knows what he does on the field and at training, and yeah, it’s just very special," he concluded.
Since IPL 2025, Dewald Brevis has made his Test and ODI debut for South Africa and gotten a new lease of life in his T20I career as well.
