Pujara represented India in 103 Tests and five ODIs.
Veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara on Sunday (August 24) announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket. He confirmed his decision with a social media post.
“Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the anthem, and trying my best each time I stepped on the field - it’s impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket. Thank you for all the love and support!” Pujara wrote on X.
A pillar of India’s Test team for over a decade, Pujara’s calm presence and unwavering focus made him one of the most dependable batters of his generation.
Cheteshwar Pujara represented India in 103 Tests, scoring 7195 runs at an average of 43.60 with the help of 19 hundreds and 35 half-centuries. The highlight of his Test career was the critical role he played in India’s Border-Gavaskar triumphs on Australian soil in 2018/19 and 2020/21.
Despite his impressive List A record, Pujara didn’t get much chance in white-ball cricket for India. He played five ODIs and amassed 51 runs in total.
