The ACC AGM meeting will take place in Dhaka and Asia Cup 2025 is set to be discussed as well.
Reports have confirmed that the situation with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) AGM meeting has been solved with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) agreeing to attend the meeting virtually on Thursday (on July 24).
BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla, the Indian board's representative in the ACC, will attend the meeting. The BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were previously reported to be at odds over the location of the ACC AGM, with the BCCI requesting that it be relocated from Dhaka. However, the standoff has resolved.
This has also given hope that the Asia Cup 2025 tournament to be hosted in September.
"The ACC has addressed a few of our concerns, including the election of the ACC vice president, so we have no issues in attending the meeting now. However, the situation with the Asia Cup will only be clear after this meeting," a top BCCI official told the Times of India.
Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the PCB and ACC, arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday for the AGM, where he was welcomed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Amin ul Islam. Significantly, the ACC's election was scheduled for Wednesday but has now been postponed.
"Eight or nine of the ACC members will attend the ACC meeting physically in Dhaka, while the rest of the members will attend it online," a source said.
It should be noted that Naqvi also attended the ICC Annual Conference, which was held virtually in Singapore.
Due to recent diplomatic difficulties between India and Bangladesh, the BCCI had demanded that the location of the ACC AGM be changed from Dhaka as a prerequisite for participation.
Allies, including Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Nepal, supported its stand. That called into question the legality of the AGM itself, as at least three permanent (test-playing) members are necessary to form a quorum.
