Former Indian cricketer Sreesanth has broken silence after being suspended from all cricket-related activities for three years by Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) for allegedly making “false and defamatory statements" in wake of Sanju Samson’s snub from India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
In a video uploaded on his Instagram account, Sreesanth clarified that he didn’t target the association and only expressed his support for Samson earlier this year.
It was reported that Samson’s chances of being included in India’s CT squad took a blow after he was left out of Kerala’s squad for the last season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy – a domestic one-day tournament.
Sreesanth criticised KCA for Samson’s omission, following which the association served him show-cause notice. At a Special general body meeting in Kochi on April 30, KCA decided to suspend the former pacer.
“You must have known that the Kerala Cricket Association bas banned me for three years, at least that’s what they’re saying. I don’t know what I have done wrong. I only had good intentions for God’s own country and god’s own son, supported Sanju," Sreesanth said in the clip.
“(I’m) not against the association but if there were people who played cricket at a decent level. People like Tinu chetan (Yohanan) who hasn’t been there for quite some time but people like that would have been helpful is what I said," he added.
Sreesanth also claimed that KCA has twisted the issue. “I don’t know why people from the association are twisting this and targetting me. I don’t have any plans to be a part of the Association or be the President. I don’t know if it’s a fear of votes. I don’t know but the people can decide for themselves," he remarked.
“I am thankful and always, be it Sanju or any other Malayalee cricketer from any part of the world, will have my support," he concluded.
