Tamim Iqbal suffered heart attacks while playing in the Dhaka Premier League match.
Tamim Iqbal, former Bangladesh cricket captain, has regained consciousness and spoke with his family after suffering a severe heart attack during a domestic tournament.
The incident occurred on Monday, when the 36-year-old, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League's 50-over match, had to be taken to the hospital owing to acute chest pain.
He received first aid at the BKSP and was transported to the nearby KPJ Specialized Hospital.
At one point, an attempt was made to take him to Dhaka via air ambulance, but his medical condition worsened. Later, he was sent back to the KPJ Specialised Hospital, where a heart block was identified.
The block was removed under the supervision of cardiologist Moniruzzaman Maruf at Fazilatunnessa Hospital. Later, experts utilized a stent to remove the obstruction.
"He is now better. He talked to his family members and also walked briefly at the hospital,” club official Tariqul Islam said.
"We had to go to hospital quickly to save his life, and luckily we did that," Mohammedan physiotherapist Enamul Haque told news agency AFP.
According to hospital medical director Razeeb Hasan, Tamim was in severe condition when he arrived and needed surgery to install stents to clear an arterial blockage.
As per Prothomo Alo's news, Tamim Iqbal is doing well and talked to his family members and even attempted to walk in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU).
Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh prayed for Tamim’s quick recovery on social media.
