All three Pakistan players admitted their guilt and no formal hearing was required.
Pakistan trio of Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam have been penalized for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the recent Pakistan v South Africa ODI of the tri-nation series on February 12, 2025.
Pacer Shaheen Afridi was fined 25% of his match fee for violating Article 2.12 of the Code, which prohibits "inappropriate physical contact with a player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee, or any other person (including a spectator) during an international match."
The incident occurred in the 28th over of South Africa's inning, when Shaheen intentionally blocked batsman Matthew Breetzke as he ran a single, resulting in physical contact and a heated conversation between the players.
On the other hand, Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam were penalized 10% of their match fees for celebrating too closely with batter Temba Bavuma after his run-out in the 29th over.
In addition to the financial penalties, the three players have each received one demerit point on their disciplinary records. None of the athletes had any prior offenses during the recent 24 months.
All players have accepted the sanctions imposed, and there will be no formal hearings regarding the incidents.
