The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking into adding a new member to the India Men's coaching team, specifically a batting coach. While no official declaration has been made, discussions within the BCCI and team management indicate the need to improve support staff.

Cricbuzz reported that several names are being evaluated, including former domestic cricket giants. However, no final decision has been reached.

Currently, India's coaching staff includes Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach), in addition to head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Following India's tour of Australia and their recent run of Test cricket losses, there has been widespread criticism of the coaching staff's role and functioning, particularly with players like Virat Kohli frequently failing to perform.

The support staff function was discussed at a review meeting in Mumbai on January 11. The specific nature of the talk with support staff cannot be guaranteed, although there may be a suggestion to try things with a different specialist.

When this news was shared on social media, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen put his hand up for the role. Pietersen made 8181 runs in 104 Tests and 4440 runs in 136 ODIs. He also played 37 T20Is and made 1176 runs. In all, he made 32 centuries in international cricket and won the 2010 T20 World Cup with England.
