Bumrah experienced back trouble during the SCG Test on Australia tour.
Jasprit Bumrah has taken fake news peddlers to task after it was reported that he has been advised bed rest after hurting his back during the Australia BGT tour recently.
The seamer returned home last week following a long tour of Australia, and the current scenario does not appear promising. According to reports
According to the Times of India, Bumrah was told to take bed rest at home, and the next course of action will be determined once the swelling in his back has subsided. It added that he will be required to report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, but his check-in date has yet to be determined.
"Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, the future course of action will be ascertained," the TOI report read.
The early indication is that it is only swelling in the back, and Bumrah will not be pushed back to cricket at this time. With his history of back troubles, stakeholders don't want to aggravate it.
His exact diagnosis is unknown at this time, but if it is more serious than edema, his return may be delayed.
"Bed rest doesn't sound good. I hope it's not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling which is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar with him - wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him," added the source.
There is a lengthy season ahead of him, with the Champions Trophy, IPL, and India's trip to England, and Bumrah must carefully manage his recovery and comeback.
There are still a few days till India selects their provisional roster for the Champions Trophy, and it is unclear whether he will be included on the list of 15.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah took to X and stated that the report that he was advised bed rest was fake news and it made him laugh.
“I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable,” Bumrah quoted the now deleted fake news post.
