BCCI will congratulate Jay Shah, the newly elected chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), during the Special General Meeting (SGM) that is planned for this Sunday.

Jay Shah, a former BCCI secretary, was elected unopposed in August of last year and assumed the esteemed position on December 1st, making him the youngest ICC chairman. Greg Barclay, who chose not to run for a third term, was replaced by him.

Shah has been the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021 and the secretary of the BCCI since October 2019.

Shah will receive a "special invitee" to the SGM, which is being held to choose the BCCI's new treasurer and secretary.

The administrator of cricket, who has been leading the charge to increase the game's global presence, recently met with senior representatives of the organizing committee for the 2032 Summer Olympics in Brisbane to talk about the sport's inclusion in the Summer Games.

When cricket is played at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, it will return to the Olympics after a 128-year absence. The sport has not yet been confirmed for Brisbane's 2032 edition.
