Anvay Dravid, the younger son of legendary India batter Rahul Dravid, gave a glimpse of his exceptional talent by slamming a century for Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy match against Jharkhand on Friday (December 13).

Batting at No. 4, Anvay displayed impressive technique and resilience, staying unbeaten on 100 off 153 balls. His innings, studded with 10 boundaries and two sixes, ensured Karnataka gaining a first-innings lead of 54 runs after Jharkhand posted 387 on the board.

Anvay’s knock was extremely vital, following a solid opening partnership between Arya Gowda and captain Dhruv Krishnan, who also returned with stunning hundreds.

This century marked a significant milestone in Anvay’s promising cricket career. It was his maiden ton for Karnataka and came in just his third innings in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, following solid performances in his previous outings, which included a half-century and 75 runs in the first two innings.

The 16-year-old, who is also a wicketkeeper, has been making steady progress through the age-group cricket. Last year, he captioned Karnataka's Under-14 team and showcased leadership qualities early in his career.

Anvay’s older brother, Samit, also hogged the headlines with his impressive performances for Karnataka this year. In September, Samit was included in India’s U-19 squad for the multi-format series against Australia, although he missed out on playing due to a knee injury.

Samit amassed 362 runs and picked up 16 wickets in the Cooch Behar Trophy, contributing to Karnataka's title-winning campaign earlier this year. He also showed his talent in the Maharaja Trophy for Mysuru Warriors.
