Jasprit Bumrah continues as no.1 ranked Test bowler, while Ravindra Jadeja is no.1 ranked all-rounder.
England’s Harry Brook has dethroned fellow teammate Joe Root and has become the new no.1 ranked Test batter in the latest update of ICC ranking on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Brook surpasses Root to become the top Test batter after scoring his ninth century against New Zealand in Wellington last week. Brook scored 123 and 55 runs as England defeated the Black Caps by 323 runs at Basin Reserve.
Brook's ascent to 898 rating points is just one more than Root's current total of 897, putting the 25-year-old on par with India great Sachin Tendulkar for the 34th-highest rating of all time in Tests.
Australia's Travis Head (up six spots to fifth) and South Africa's Temba Bavuma (up three places to seventh) move into the top ten for Test batters after strong performances for their respective countries, while former No.1 batter Marnus Labuschagne improves three places to 13th.
Coming to the ICC Test bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to reign at the No. 1 spot. However, new challengers to his throne have emerged with Australia skipper Pat Cummins (up one spot to fourth) and New Zealand seamer Matt Henry (up one place to ninth) making ground.
Mitchell Starc (up three rungs to 11th), Chris Woakes (up two places to 15th,) and Gus Atkinson (up four spots to 17th) also make gains.
Ravindra Jadeja of India remains No.1 in the Test rankings for all-rounders, while Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz moves up two places to second following his team's series against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
