Shaheen Afridi was dropped from Pakistan Test team along with Babar Azam and Naseem Shah.
This circumstance has sparked criticism and raised worries about the fairness of the selection process in Pakistani cricket.
Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has raised worry over the cricket selectors' selections involving players Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah.
Basit Ali especially mentioned Shaheen Shah Afridi's absence, implying a potential prejudice. Basit Ali revealed that Shaheen Shah Afridi was always the selectors' target, and this was exclusively due to his father-in-law Shahid Afridi.
He further mentioned that the flat pitch prepared for the match was intended to limit Shaheen's effectiveness, making it easier for the selectors to justify his removal for the next Test.
"A batting pitch was made for their benefit. It was Babar's bad luck that he was out of form and got out on such a pitch. However, the target was always Shaheen Afridi. It was because of Shahid Afridi,” Basit said on his YouTube channel.
He also advised Shahid Afridi to be cautious in his relationships, saying, "I want to give a message to Shahid Afridi that he needs to identify his friends and enemies. Not everyone who speaks with a smile is your friend. You are not thinking about how subtly these guys work. Because you are a devotee of Allah, there's nothing to fear."
Pakistan is set to face England in the second Test starting October 15 in Multan.
