Musheer Khan, the impressive Mumbai batter and brother of India player Sarfaraz Khan, was involved in a serious car accident in Uttar Pradesh. The teenager will miss the upcoming Irani Cup in Lucknow and the start of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.

Musheer was driving from Azamgarh to Lucknow with his father, Naushad Khan, and two other passengers when his automobile collided with a divider and crashed on the Purvanchal Expressway.

While his father and other co-passengers sustained minor scrapes, Musheer is claimed to have suffered a concussion and pain behind his neck. He was sent to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.

Musheer's doctors believe he will need at least 16 weeks to recover and may have a fracture that has yet to be diagnosed. Musheer will now fly back to Mumbai on Sunday for further treatment.

He met with an accident last night and will miss the Irani Cup. He will be flying back to Mumbai on Sunday. The medical team of MCA and BCCI is monitoring his situation. The BCCI will be doing another round of medical tests and scan once he returns,an MCA official told Indian Express.

The Mumbai team flew from Mumbai to Lucknow to compete in the Irani Cup on Friday evening, and Musheer was supposed to join from his hometown, where he was training. The MCA wanted Musheer to fly with the team.

However, Naushad asked the organization to allow his son to train in Azamgarh after he failed to perform in his final few innings of the recently concluded Duleep Trophy. The MCA, in collaboration with the Mumbai team's coaching staff, granted Naushad's request. The Mumbai squad has scheduled two-day nets in Mumbai. However, it was impeded by constant rain.

Mumbai, the defending Ranji Trophy champions will face the Rest of India side in a one-off match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow from October 1 to 5.

Mumbai has yet to name Musheer's replacement. The right-handed hitter will also miss the opening rounds of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, which begins on October 11.

In his first game for Mumbai in nearly two years, Musheer smashed his maiden First-Class double hundred before shining in the Ranji final against Vidarbha. Musheer hit a second-innings hundred as Mumbai bagged a record-extending 42nd Ranji title.

Musheer has compiled over 700 runs in nine FC matches, averaging over 50 while registering three hundreds and a fifty.
