‘Babar Azam, shaadi kar le, umar zyada ho gayee hai’- Basit Ali gives weird advice to struggling Pakistani batter

Babar Azam has not scored a Test fifty since December 2022.

Babar Azam, 29, is undergoing a woeful patch of bad form. He managed just 64 runs in the recent Bangladesh Test series, which Pakistan embarrassingly lost 0-2 in their own home. This was the first time Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in a Test and a Test series.

Former cricketers and experts in Pakistan have criticized Babar's poor performance. His performance in Test cricket has been especially dismal. His last Test fifty came in December 2022, against New Zealand in Karachi.

In the midst of this, former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has come up with some extremely left-field advice for Babar Azam. He asked the ace cricketer to get married and reminded him of his age as well. Basit feels that marriage will change Babar Azam’s fortunes and he might become a completely different person.

"I know how a player feels when he is not performing well. I request Babar's parents to get him to marry. Like an elder brother, I want to tell him, ‘Shaadi kar le bhai, ab umar zyada ho gayi hai teri’ (Get married, brother, you’re old enough now),” Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel.

His extended slide of 16 Test innings without a half-century has alarmed both fans and commentators. Basit's approach emphasizes the mental and emotional challenges that top athletes encounter when going through a difficult time.

While unorthodox, his counsel is intended to address the psychological impact that extended bad form can have on a player.

The Men in Green are going to face a tough test against a powerful England team that is currently in fantastic form. England defeated Pakistan 3-0 the last time they visited in 2022. Pakistan will hope that their top batter Babar returns to form soon, which will help them boost their chances against England.
