Rahul Dravid seems to be in high demand ever since the end of his coaching tenure with Team India following the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in June.

The 51-year-old has been linked with a possible move to England as the ECB is looking for candidates to take over proceedings of their ODI and T20I sides.

Not long ago, it was reported that Dravid is in advanced talks with the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals to take up the head coach role.

Coming to England, their white-ball team has had a challenging last one year. They struggled badly at the Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, finishing at the seventh position in the 10-team competition with three wins out of nine matches.

During the recently T20 World Cup, the Three Lions failed to a make a big mark. While the Jos Buttler-led side qualified for the semis, they managed to defeat only one Test-playing nation, the West Indies, throughout the tournament.

In the wake of multiple debacles, white-ball coach Matthew Mott tendered his resignation and the hunt for the high-profile post is on.

Amid the recent development, England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan has shortlisted a few candidates, including Dravid, whom he believes are suitable for the job.

"You got to remember, it's the England cricket team, it's one of the most resourced cricket teams in the world, so it is up to Rob [Key] to make that role as attractive as possible. So you then go to the best coaches or highly regarded coaches in the world and say 'Well, this is a job that you want to do as opposed to having to second guess it,'" Morgan told Sky Sports.

"In my eyes, at the moment, you would go to Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting, Stephen Fleming, and Brendon McCullum. I say McCullum because I believe he is one of the best coaches in the world," he added.

After his retirement from international cricket, Rahul Dravid took up the head coach roles for India U-19 and India ‘A’ teams before serving the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as director.

Following the end of Ravi Shastri’s stint as India head coach, Rahul Dravid was appointed in the high-profile role in October 2021.

Under Dravid’s guidance, India reached the final of the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup last year. However, the team failed to cross final hurdles as they lost to Australia on both occasions.

However, Dravid ended his coaching career with an ICC trophy as Rohit Sharma and his men clinched the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean nearly a month ago.
