The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be played in Pakistan in Feb-Mar.
This recommendation, according to a reliable PCB source, was included in the event's draft itinerary, which was sent to the ICC in late April. PCB wishes to offer the best security measures for the neighbors, therefore the suggestion.
"Yes Lahore has been suggested as the home base for the Indian team to reduce their traveling and to provide them with the best security arrangements," the source told PTI.
Due to security concerns, India declined to participate in Pakistan at the Asia Cup last year, and their matches were rescheduled for Sri Lanka.
The following year's ICC 50-over competition will be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9. The PCB has kept Karachi and Rawalpindi as additional Champions Trophy venues; however, the ICC executive board has not ratified the draft schedule.
This will be Pakistan's first major ICC event since 1996, but it did host the whole Asia Cup in 2008 and some games from the same event last year.
However, it remains to be seen whether BCCI gets government permission to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also stated that the Pakistan Super League will be held in April of the following year to accommodate the Champions Trophy. Before the ICC tournament, the PCB plans to conduct a tri-series with South Africa and New Zealand as participants.
