Shane Watson is in talks for Pakistan cricket team's head coach role.
Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is reportedly being considered for the position of head coach for the Pakistan cricket team. However, despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accepting his salary demands, Watson has not yet made his final decision.
Sources within the PCB revealed that Watson has requested an annual salary of $2 million, which amounts to approximately 46 million Pakistani rupees per month. If Watson signs the contract with the PCB, this would make him the highest-paid foreign coach in Pakistan's cricket history.
In comparison, previous foreign coaches like Richard Pybus, Bob Woolmer, Geoff Lawson, Dav Whatmore, Grant Bradburn, and Mickey Arthur received considerably lower salaries.

Meanwhile, the delay in Watson's decision to sign the contract is attributed to several factors, including the frequent changes within the PCB and the coaching staff.
The PCB source was quoted as saying by PTI: “Considering his young family in Australia and commitments in the USA Major League, he is assessing his options. The board expects him to dedicate ample time to Pakistan, aiding in talent discovery and domestic grooming.”
Currently, Watson is serving as the coach of the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, the Aussie doesn’t have the experience of coaching an international team, but he has gained some coaching exposure through roles in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and PSL.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that they are in favor of foreign coaches for the national team, and they will have the board’s full support.
