Iyer had made himself unavailable for Mumbai's last two Ranji matches due to back pain.
Mumbai played a draw against Baroda in their quarter-final at the BKC ground in Bandra, but qualified for the semi-final on the basis of the first-innings lead. They will now play Tamil Nadu in the second semi-final from March 2nd at the Mumbai Cricket Association's BKC ground in Bandra.
Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, was dropped from the Indian team for the last three Tests of the five-match series against England. He had also complained of back pain while batting in the second Test in Vizag and hence excused himself from Mumbai’s last two Ranji Trophy matches.
He had reportedly notified MCA that he was unavailable for selection owing to back spasms, but Nitin Patel, the National Cricket Academy's head of sports science and health, stated in an email to the BCCI and national selectors that Iyer was 'fit'.
However, now, Shreyas Iyer has reportedly informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he is fit and available for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy semi-final match.
"Yes, Iyer has confirmed to the Mumbai Cricket Association that he is fit now and available for Mumbai's semi-final match," a source told Times of India.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah had given a stern warning to centrally contracted and India A cricketers last week that not participating in the ongoing Ranji Trophy will not be tolerated.
