Malik had bowled 3 no-balls in an over during a BPL 2024 match leading to rumors of fixing.
Malik, during the BPL match between Fortune Barishal against Khulna Tigers, bowled three no ball in the same over and that too inside the powerplay. He also conceded 18 runs as replays showed that Shoaib Malik was well ahead of the crease which caused concern.
The disastrous performance with the ball by Malik led to widespread trolling from fans across social media. Then rumors and reports floated that his contract has been terminated by the Barishal franchise and he has been replaced for the rest of BPL 2024.
However, Barishal owner Mizanur Rahman lauded Shoaib Malik's contribution to the team and refuted allegations of terminating the cricketer’s contract. However, Barishal have replaced Malik, who flew to Dubai amidst the turmoil, with his former Pakistan teammate Ahmed Shehzad for the rest of the season.
