India fast bowler Mukesh Kumar shared insights into his on-field partnership with Jasprit Bumrah. The duo, along with Mohammed Siraj, played a crucial role in Team India's win in the second Test against South Africa after a loss in the first Test last month.

Mukesh made a significant impact, particularly in the second Test, where he scalped four wickets, including a remarkable spell of 2.2-2-0-2 to help India restrict South Africa to just 55 runs in 1st innings. Notably, India won the second Test by 7 wickets to level the series at 1-1 in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Mukesh praised Bumrah for providing valuable advice during the game and said that the senior pacer’s tips are priceless and helps him to grow as a fast bowler.

Mukesh Kumar said in an interaction with Telegraph India: “Bumrah bhai keeps advising me on the yorker in particular. You bowl the yorker well. Just keep doing what you have been. We talk quite regularly and he gives me other suggestions as well, which are obviously invaluable.”

The Indian pacer also discussed the common strategies shared between Bengal and the Indian cricket team.

He further explained, “The process is quite similar to what myself, Akash (Deep), and Ishan Porel used to do in Bengal. Here also we discuss our respective roles: who will go on all-out attack and who focuses on keeping things tight with maiden overs.”

Mukesh signed off by saying, “In Cape Town, Bumrah bhai was telling me to keep bowling those dot balls as that would add to their (Proteas) pressure (in the second innings). Such was the situation that I had to bowl those, which eventually proved to be beneficial for the team.”
