Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad lauded star batter Virat Kohli in a Q&A session on social media platform X. He called him a champion and stated that 2023 was his year.

Virat Kohli made a thumping return to form in 2023 as he amassed 2048 runs in all formats of the game, finishing second only to Shubman Gill, who made 2154 runs. Kohli had an amazing ICC World Cup 2023, as he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most runs (673), scoring 765 runs with 3 centuries and 6 fifties in 11 matches.

In the year, Kohli also reached the milestone of 50 centuries in ODI, once again breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar.

Venkatesh Prasad conducted a #AskVenky session on X and a fan asked him to share his thoughts on Virat Kohli.

‘Sachin Tendulkar is greatness personified; Virat Kohli is the best batter in the world today’- Ali Bacher

Prasad posted: "He has proved again that he is a champion and the best batsman of this generation, been a phenomenal year for him. Would rate this as his best year, especially since it had come after a couple of difficult years for him. That hunger and zeal was refreshing and a sign of the true champion that Virat is.”

Kohli was also the bright spot in India’s crushing innings loss to South Africa in Centurion as he scored 76 in the second innings where India was bowled out for 131 runs. India will play their next Test match on January 3 in Cape Town.
