MS Dhoni’s achievement as a cricketer is surreal, to say the least. The 41-year-old has etched his name as one of the finest captains in the history of the game.

Dhoni is the only skipper in the history of cricket to have won all three ICC white-ball trophies – 2007 World T20, 2011 Cricket World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. He also led India to two Asia Cup titles (2010 and 2016) and the pinnacle in Test cricket.

While Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020, he continues to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He captained CSK to a record-equalling fifth IPL title earlier this year.

Such is the aura of Dhoni’s leadership that he was recently asked by an RCB fan to support the Bangalore-based franchisee and win them a title.

Notably, RCB are yet to win the IPL title so far despite having some of the great cricketers in their ranks over the years.

To which, Dhoni replied: "They are a very good team. But what you also need to know is that in cricket, everything doesn't go according to plan. So If you're talking about the IPL, all the 10 teams, more often than not, if they have the good players, all of them are very strong teams."

"The problem arises if you're missing a few players because of injury or reasons like that. So they have a very good team and everyone has a fair chance in the IPL. As of now, I have so many things to worry about in my own team. I'd like to wish every team all the very best. But I can't really do more than that because imagine me going out of the way to help other teams, how will our fans feel?" he added.

MS Dhoni will return to lead CSK in the 2024 edition of IPL. He underwent knee surgery soon after the completion of the IPL 2023 season and has made a good recovery so far.
