This blunder was noticed on the opening day of the four-day match between Pakistan and Prime Ministers XI.
In an embarrassing broadcasting gaffe, Fox Cricket used racist word 'PAKI' on live score ticker to represent Pakistan team during its warm-up fixture against Prime Ministers XI.
This blunder was noticed on the opening day of the four-day match at the Manuka Oval, sparking a fair bit of controversy.
An Australian journalist shared a screengrab on X (formally Twitter), after which the mistake was rectified and Cricket Australia also issued an apology.
"The graphic was an automatic feed from a data provider which had not been used previously for a Pakistan game. This was obviously regrettable, and the error we corrected manually as soon as it came to light," journalist Daany Saeed, citing that it was a clarification from CA.
The Shan Masood-led Pakistan side is currently on the tour of Australia to play a three-match Test series, starting December 14 in Perth. In order to fine-tune their preparations, the visitors are facing Prime Ministers XI in a four-day match.
Riding on skipper Masood’s double hundred, Pakistan racked up 391/9 (declared) in their first innings.
At the close of play on Day 2, the Prime Minsters XI were at 149/2, still trailing the tourists by 242 runs.
