Trent Boult made himself unavailable for the ODI series against Bangladesh at home.
New Zealand announced the 13-member ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh at home. New Zealand named three uncapped players in the ODI squad.
Among them are 26-year-old all-rounder Josh Clarkson, leg-spinner Adi Ashok, and seamer Will O'Rourke, who all have the chance to make their ODI debut against Bangladesh.
Adi Ashok, who debuted for the Black Caps in T20Is in the UAE in August, is included in the squad for the last two games, with Ish Sodhi playing in the first match against Bangladesh.
Tom Latham will lead the New Zealand team in the ODI series, with Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips, and Devon Conway all rested.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s several players, including Michael Bracewell, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, James Neesham, Ben Lister, and Henry Shipley, were unavailable due to their respective injuries for the Bangladesh ODIs.
New Zealand selector Sam Wells said: “Josh [Clarkson] is someone who, while still only young, has played over 150 matches for the Stags, developing his skills with bat and ball to become a consistent contributor. Adi and Will are both still fresh to domestic cricket but have been impressive in their early efforts and stepped up well this year in the New Zealand A matches against Australia A.”
He added, “Both offer valuable skill-sets, Adi with impressive control as a young leg spinner, and Will with natural bounce and variation as a tall pace bowler.”
Additionally, Trent Boult opted not to play in the home series.
New Zealand ODI squad:
Tom Latham, Adi Ashok (matches 2 and 3), Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls, Will O'Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Ish Sodhi (match 1), Will Young.
