Tendulkar is Widely regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time,
Shastri and Vaughan recently featured on the Club Prairie Fire podcast alongside Australian great Adam Gilchrist. As the discussion went on a range of topics, Shastri was asked who he feels is the most technically gifted batter of all time.
In reply, the former India coach took the name of Tendulkar without giving a second thought.
"I would say Sachin Tendulkar across all formats. The player I have seen who adapted, adjusted and was consistent in whatever he did. And brought that pure element into batting. The purity of his game was such that it was very difficult to replicate it," Shastri said on the podcast.
"You will get better run-getters and people who may score runs at a faster pace. Guys who will come with more power. But when it comes to technique he made the batting look so easy even when he was scoring quickly it was all proper cricketing shots that came naturally to him.
"Front foot, back foot, bouncy tracks, turning tracks or be it one-day cricket, Tests or T20Is, he was sensational. There were very little changes he had to make because it all came naturally to him. And there was an element of purity about his game and his technique which I have not seen in too many," he further remarked.
Later, Vaughan took to social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) and echoed Shastri's viewpoint.
“Without a doubt .. @RaviShastriOfc is spot on .. @sachin_rt is the greatest technician the game has seen .. #India .@clubprairiefire," Vaughan tweeted.
In a career spanning 24 years, Sachin Tendulkar represented India in 200 Tests and 463 ODIs, scoring the world record number of runs (15921 in Tests and 18426 in ODIs) and centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs).
