Varanasi to get Bhagwan Shiv-themed cricket stadium; PM Narendra Modi to lay foundation stone- Report

The stadium will have a capacity of 30,000 spectators and will be ready in 30 months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium in his consistency of Varanasi and reports have suggested that the stadium will be themed after Bhagwan Shiv and will be a state-of-the-art stadium, equipped with cutting-edge facilities.

Dainik Jagran reported that an approximate sum of ₹350 crore will be spent on the construction of the stadium. The stadium will be built on a wide campus of about 31 acres. There will be seven pitches in the stadium.

Day-night matches can also be held here. There will be special arrangements for draining rainwater in the stadium equipped with modern facilities. There will be seating arrangements for 30,000 people here simultaneously. The stadium will be ready in 30 months.

Varanasi is considered to be one of the oldest cities in the world and has a special connection with Bhagwan Shiv. And the report mentioned that the entire stadium will have a crescent-shaped roof - that crowns the Indian God, and the floodlights designed like a Trishul.

The entrance and the lounge will resemble Bhagwan Shiv’s damru while the exterior of the arena will feature huge motifs of wood apple leaves in metallic frames.

The design of the cricket stadium has been released by the district administration on Tuesday.

As per the report, PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the stadium in the presence of former cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Ravi Shastri. Also present will be BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah.
