Virat Kohli and Kyle Mayers had an animated chat during the IPL 2023 season.
It all happened after Kohli engaged in an ugly spat with Naveen-ul-Haq during the LSG versus RCB clash on May 1 in Lucknow.
After the game, Gambhir was seen approaching Kohli aggressively with his players and the two had a war of words. Before the matter could have gone out of hands, both of them were separated by the players and support staff members.
Before the altercation between Kohli and Gambhir, the former was also seen having an animated conversation with LSG opener Kyle Mayers. It was at this point, Gambhir came and took Mayers away.
Almost three months later, Mayers opened up on the 'banter' that he has had with Kohli during the IPL.
"You had a little bit of banter with Virat Kohli in the IPL, what do you think of his aggression in the game?" Kyle Mayers was asked on Fan Code.
"It's great, sometimes you need to get at your opposition, to create any chance to get out of the game. Being aggressive is always good, it shows courage and the willingness to get your team over the line," said Mayers in response.
After the incident, Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100% of their match fees while Naveen copped 50% penalty for breaching the IPL code of conduct.
