For the unversed, Road Safety World Series is a T20 league featuring retired international cricketers from different countries.

The first two editions of the tournament took place in India, but no team from Pakistan participated in it due to strained relations between the neighbouring countries.

As per the report, a total of nine teams will feature in RSWS 2023 as compared to last year’s eight. While the dates for the event are yet to be finalised, it is learnt that the league will be played from early September for close to three weeks.

The inaugural edition of the competition, launched in March 2020, had to be cut off after only four matches due to COVID-19 pandemic. When the season resumed in March 2021 in Raipur, Australia pulled out of it due to the travel restrictions and were replaced by Bangladesh.

The second season took place in Dehradun and Raipur in September 2022, with New Zealand being an eighth team added to the tournament while Australia also returned.

India Legends are reigning champions ahead of the 2023 edition and clinched their second title last year. Sachin Tendulkar led India Legends in the first two editions and the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan also featured in the competition.

Kevin Pietersen, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shane Watson, Tillakaratne Dilshan, and Brian Lara were among the superstars to take part in the first two editions of RSWS.
