India keeper-batter KL Rahul has reportedly gained full fitness and is available for selection for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 tournament which begins on August 30 and will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

This comes as more good news for the Indian team fans as earlier pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna were declared fully fit to return to the Indian team and were included in the squad for Ireland T20I tour with Bumrah leading the side.

KL Rahul last played for India in March 2023 and his competitive game was in IPL 2023 in May during which he suffered a thigh injury and had to undergo surgery for the same. He had a lengthy recovery and rehab period in the NCA.

Rahul had previously shared videos of his practice with the bat and the keeping gloves on social media.

"The coaches and medical experts at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy in Bangalore are satisfied with Rahul's progress/recovery. He will be available for selection for the Asia Cup," a reliable source said to Times of India.

However, the same cannot be said for Shreyas Iyer, who is slated to miss the Asia Cup tournament, as report suggested his back problem has persisted despite a surgery.
