Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stocks are on the rise in recent months. The southpaw performed exceptionally well in the Ranji Trophy 2023 for Mumbai and followed it with a stellar display in the Indian Premier League.

Playing for Rajasthan Royals, he aggregated 625 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 163.61, including one hundred and five half-centuries.

Subsequently, Jaiswal was named in India’s squad for the WTC final against Australia as a stand-by player. Last week, the 21-year-old broke into the Indian Test team for the very first time as he was included in the 16-member squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies, starting July 12.

Amid the success, Jaiswal recently recalled his meeting with the legendary MS Dhoni during the 2020 edition of IPL and also revealed the advice he received from the CSK captain in the recently held IPL season.

“It was a great moment in my life. It was the first time I had seen Dhoni up close. I tried in the middle of games to have a conversation with him. He told me to keep playing cricketing shots and keep faith in myself and to keep my mind at peace. These are simple things but they are very difficult to do in real life. You need a lot of patience," said Jaiswal in a chat with The Indian Express.

The Rajasthan Royals opener further added that he doesn’t think too much about the accolade he receives from people and rather focuses on improving his skills.

“I only think about what I should do. I don’t think much about other things. If there are few things that would enhance my cricket, then I would do it. I respect the game, and I feel blessed that I am doing something which I have always dreamt of. And if I am able to entertain and spread happiness with my skills, that’s great," said Jaiswal.

“If someone says ‘Wow, Yashasvi, what a shot you have played’, ‘what a catch you have taken’ or ‘what a run-out you pulled off’, that’s a blessing for me. I want to stay humble and enjoy my game. I respect what God has given me and want to take it forward peacefully," he remarked.
