MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli feature in the list of celebrities guilty of violating advertising rules

Advertising Standards Council of India released the half-yearly complaints report on May 17.

Former India skippers MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have been found guilty of breaching the advertising regulations, Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) confirmed.

ASCI, the organisation that oversees and ensures fair usage of advertisements in India, released the half-yearly complaints report on Wednesday (May 17).

As per the official report, Dhoni tops the list of non-compliant celebrities for the advertiser, Tictok Skill Games Private Limited, in the gaming category. He has violated the rule in as many as 10 occasions.

On the other hand, Kohli has broken the rule, working under the advertiser, Galactus Funware Technology Private Limited, five times.

The organisation also reported a considerable increase in the number of complaints involving celebrities in 2022–23, with 503 ads involving celebrities processed compared to 55 ads the previous year.

Talking about Dhoni and Kohli, they are currently featuring in the IPL 2023 season. While Dhoni is leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL, Kohli is playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

CSK have nearly qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs with 15 points from 13 games whereas RCB will have to win their remaining two games to secure a spot in the last-four stage.
