Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma merged their respective NGOs.
Star couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma on Wednesday (March 23) announced that they have launched a new joint non-profit initiative, called SeVVA, to help the needy people.
In a joint statement, the Bollywood actress and Indian cricketer stated that they have merged their respective foundations—the Anushka Sharma Foundation and the Virat Kohli Foundation—to launch a joint non-profit initiative, SeVVA, that will help people in need and isn’t confined to any particular cause.
The Bollywood diva revealed that the name of the organisation is an amalgamation of her family's names, including her, Virat, and her daughters Vamika and Anushka. She also said that their non-profit venture would be undertaken "as a family."
Kohli and Anushka said in a joint statement issued by the star couple: “In the words of Kahlil Gibran ‘For in truth it is life that gives unto life – while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness’.
With this sentiment in mind, we have decided to work together through SeVVA aiming to reach out to as many people as possible. SeVVA’s work won't be confined to a particular issue as it will continue to strive for social good by championing humanity which is the need of the hour today.”
Notably, Kohli will continue to provide scholarships in sports and also sponsor athletes, while Anushka will continue to be involved with animal welfare.
