Bhuvneshwar Kumar played his last played for India in November 2022 against New Zealand.
Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik revealed how Team India head coach Rahul Dravid hailed Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his contribution to Indian cricket.
Notably, Bhuvneshwar represented India in 21 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 87 T20Is and scalped 63, 141, and 90 wickets respectively. He was the first Indian bowler to pick a five-wicket haul in all three formats of international cricket.
Karthik said that he was left impressed with the way Dravid talked about Bhuvneshwar and his efforts with the ball over the years for five minutes during one of the team meetings.
Speaking on the show 'The Rise of New India' on Cricbuzz Plus, Dinesh Karthik said: “At the start of a team meeting, Rahul Dravid literally spoke about him for five minutes. Just saying that he goes very unassumed, very quiet and I think it is very important to give the devil its due in a team meeting.”
The veteran cricketer added, “He spoke about Bhuvneshwar Kumar and how he's been profound in Indian cricket for the last so many years in white-ball cricket. That was very good to hear because a lot of times we are always fascinated with batsmanship - people obviously hitting fours and sixes.”
Karthik signed off by saying, “But here is one guy who has consistently performed with the ball and been a prolific performer for Team India, apart from his franchise. A lot of credit must be given to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.”
