Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action for the last five months due to back injury.
The surgery was carried out by well-known orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rowan Schouten, who has previously treated cricketers like Jofra Archer and James Pattinson.
Bumrah, who has been out of action since September last year, is expected to be back in training by August this year.
According to the report, Dr Schouten's name was recommended to the BCCI by Shane Bond, former Kiwi pacer who is now a bowling coach of Mumbai Indians, the team that Bumrah plays for in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The BCCI and the Indian team management don’t want to take rush things regarding Bumrah's comeback. If his recovery goes as per the plans, the speedster could return to action for the ODI World Cup 2023, slated to be held in India in October-November.
Jasprit Bumrah picked up a stress fracture on his lower back prior to the Asia Cup last year. On his return in the home T20Is against Australia in September 2022, the Indian pace spearhead went down again with the same injury, which ruled him out of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
