Amidst the injury concerns of pacer Jasprit Bumrah and batter Shreyas Iyer, both of whom are dealing with back injuries, another player has basically flown under the radar and that is Karnataka fast bowler Prasidh Krishna.

Krishna has already been out of action for the last six months after suffering a stress fracture to his back, but now reports are filtering in that he might need more time to regain full fitness and is running out of time and matches to do so.

Considered to be one of the contenders to be part of India’s 2023 World Cup squad, Prasidh last played an ODI against Zimbabwe in August 2022. He has an impressive haul of 25 wickets from 14 ODIs at an economy rate of 5.32 and at an average of 23.92.

Currently, at the NCA, Krishna is yet to resume bowling with the IPL 2023 just months away. The news is concerning with no timeline set for full fitness.

"Prasidh has a stress fracture and in case of this particular form of injury, you cannot put a date on a prospective comeback. Every player has a different body type and the recovery process and time would be different. It could be anything between six months to one year. In case of Prasidh, he is still not fit enough to return to play and it is unfortunate that he missed the entire domestic season,” a BCCI source told PTI.

For him to play in the IPL, Prasidh needs regularly start bowling in the nets and then in match situations. However, his fitness is reportedly not upto the mark and it will be unfortunate if Prasidh missed the World Cup bus but at this point, there is imminent danger of it happening.
