Suryakumar Yadav hammered 1164 runs in 31 T20Is in 2022 with two centuries | GettyDashing India batter Suryakumar Yadav has been named the ICC Men’s T20I player of the year for 2022, as announced by the governing body on January 25, 2023.

Suryakumar Yadav, who made his India debut in 2021, had a stellar year in 2022. He became only the second batter in T20I history to make over 1,000 runs in a calendar year, amassing 1164 runs. He also made two centuries hundreds and nine half-centuries while striking at a stunning 187.43.

He also hit a stunning 68 sixes in the year, the most recorded by anyone in a year in the format's history.

He also had a majestic T20 World Cup 2022, where he made 239 runs while going at a strike rate of 189.68. He is currently the no.1 ranked T20I batter in the world.

Tahlia McGrath | GettyThe Women’s T20I player of the year 2022 award was won by Tahlia McGrath of Australia. She saw off competition from dashing India opener Smriti Mandhana, Pakistan’s Nida Dar, and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine. She is currently the World's No.1 ICC Women's T20I batter.

The right-hander has made 435 runs in 16 T20Is and picked 13 wickets as well. Her highest score was 91* in 46 balls against England with 13 fours and a six. And then returned to take 3/26. McGrath was also part of the Australian women’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning team.

She has scored 128 runs in five matches, averaging 42.66.
